Boho Bling Bracelets for Charity

 

I found out that an old friend of mine, Kevin, has cancer.  His mother-in-law set up an online fundraiser to help his family pay for his chemotherapy and help pay the bills while he is unable to work.  You can read about Kevin and donate to his fund by going here:  http://www.gofundme.com/3oota4  

I was not able to donate as much as I would like to because I am disabled.  In order to be able to help more substantially, I designed a simple adjustable sliding knot bracelet to sell in my new shop, ThunderBlingJewelry. 

There is a category called, “Boho Bling Bracelets” that I created for Kevin’s Cancer Fund bracelets.  The bracelets are $20 with FREE SHIPPING.  For each bracelet sold, I will donate $15 to Kevin.  The remaining $5 will pay for shipping, materials and etsy/paypal transaction fees. 

These bracelets look great alone or layered with other Boho Bling Bracelets.  They are a great gift idea for women, teens and even girls.  I can make them to fit any wrist.

I’ve known Kevin since I was a very little girl when he lived down the street from me.  We used to sit on the bus together and sing.  He taught me “The Crazy Old Man From China,” only he sang, “…China na nah…”  We also had matching brown tennis shoes at the time when only white shoes were “cool,” which was pretty awesome for me because he was cool in my opinion and I was a bit dorky…still am, I guess.  

His brothers were really good to me when I was in high school.  One time I got a ride home from track practice from a really creepy guy who scared me nearly to death.  I never told them, but from then on, one of them always drove me home from practice. 

They are good people and treated me like a sister, so after hearing about Kevin’s illness, I naturally wanted to help.  Please help out.  By getting some of my bracelets, you get a great product and I am able to turn my time into money for Kevin’s fund. 

Kevin is a wonderful husband and father of two, and the financial burden of this setback is not an easy thing to manage when you are a breadwinner.  He had just missed a bunch of work because he had back surgery, and was still paying that off when his cancer was discovered.  Then he had to have surgery again, plus chemo. 

He has missed a lot of work and will miss a lot more and the bills are piling up.  His insurance pays for some of the treatments, but what it doesn’t is still an astronomical amount and the clinic insisted that he pay that money up front, so money is needed NOW to pay for the life saving treatments.

Uugh.  I’ve had a migraine for at least a week, minus a day.  (That doesn't make any sense unless you are in my head.)   Anyway, it makes it really hard to get anything done or write a fun blog when you’ve got an ook infestation in your noggin.  (I can’t believe spellcheck liked that word, "noggin".  That fickle bugger.)

So we just watched Ratatouille and my poor 5 year old nephew, Ben, hated it.  He got freaked out when they snuck into the old lady’s kitchen at the very beginning. He ran off crying and plugging his ears.  He doesn’t like anything new or anything even remotely suspenseful.  Poor thing.  He has "unique child that doesn’t fit into any box" syndrome.  And I have "over-stimulated auntie who can’t process the GARGANTUAN chaos" syndrome.  Four people (two of them children) are ALL TALKING AT THE SAME TIME and my family is SOOOOOOO LLLLOOOOUUUUUUUDDD!!!  AAAHHHHHHH!  I’m wearing mondo earplugs and STILL can’t hack it. My brain is thick and slow, like porridge that sat around for a day or so.

Oh MY.  And get this.  Ben was not obeying while eating at the island and knocked his bowl onto the granite floor.  CRAAAAASSHSHHHV###33SKKXTX$X%&#.  It completely shattered into itty bitty pieces.  Spaghetti EVERYWHERE.  Yay!

If I wasn't so thick I would have snapped a photo of it's spectacularness, but I had to rescue an extremely mobile (and grumpy) baby from sharp bits.  Now at the end of it all, her fever is down and mine is up.  Oh goodie. Bleh.

At least I did find the energy today to finish my custom pendant and model it for my gal in Ireland.  It's a new design with a slipknot cord.  It won't turn backwards.  I find it annoying how cords are always turning backwards.   And the slipknot allows versatility in length, which I love because I tend to layer my jewelry.  I'm going to make more.

Golden Healers - Yellow Quartz Crystal (NOT Tangerine Quartz): Healing Properties And The Difference Between Both Stones

Golden Healers are very rare quartz crystals stained internally with yellow iron oxide. Many of them also have actinolite needles trapped inside,  Their colors range from pale yellow to gold or orange and they have a Mohs hardness of 7, like rock quartz, amethyst and citrine.

This rare stone is also known as “golden healer” because of its incredible healing powers. The yellow iron stain adds whole body healing change to the purifying and amplifying powers of quartz crystal.

Golden Healer Crystal with Actinolite

This crystal is used for spiritual healing, cleansing the organs, stimulating the immune system, clearing blockages from qi (chi,) aligning the chakras and balancing yin-yang energies. Yellow quartz can be used with any of the chakras, but is especially powerful with the sacral, solar plexus and crown chakras. Using this stone on the 3rd Chakra (Solar Plexus) helps one align themselves with the Divine will.

Two Golden Healers

Golden healers help create a sense of confidence, zeal, happiness and adventure. Paler yellow hues are most helpful when cheerfulness and enthusiasm is needed. The deeper the shade of gold, the stronger its powers of manifestation for self-assurance and success in leadership roles.

Tangerine quartz (below) has a similar color range, but its color is a coating on the outside of the crystal instead of on the inside.

All of the crystals in the photo below are golden healers except the one in the upper left corner.

All of these specimens came from China. I have never seen golden healer specimens quite like these before, especially the deep yellow intensity of the four darker ones. Many of these taper toward the termination like a diamantine laser wand and have the horizontal stripes of a Lemurian seed crystals. This shape is called "Tessin Habit" and the striations are called " macromosaic structure." Two of these specimens have the multiple terminations of a split growth formation.

Stones and Crystals for Healing

Everything has an electromagnetic field.  Electromagnetism is what holds atoms together.  Your body has electromagnetism and gemstones also have electromagnetism.  My tens unit can find my acupuncture points and my chakras.  After I open a chakra, the pitch of the sensor on my tens unit goes up considerably.  A recent scientific theory supporting the millenniums old belief in the healing powers of crystals and gemstones suggests that the electromagnetic fields of stones and crystal interact the electromagnetic fields in our bodies.  Each type of gemstone, mineral and crystal growth form produces a unique electromagnet field, thus each affecting our bodies in different ways.  The healing and metaphysical properties I list on my blog or etsy store are compiled from various cultures and sources and many of the properties are similar throughout several cultures.

There is so much yet to be understood through science about the metaphysical and healing properties of stones, but healers in countless cultures have long been using Earths natural resources to heal our bodies, hearts and minds, and to lengthen and enrich our lives.  Numerous modern medications originally came from plant medicine, like aspirin, valium and ephedrine, and minerals like tin, copper, gold, silver, quartz and garnet are currently being used to run our electrical devices.  In recent years, alternative medicine has been working its way into our mainstream western medical care.  These alternative treatments include vitamins, minerals, herbs, yoga, taichi, acupuncture, massage, magnet therapy, electromagnetic therapy, tens units, alkaline diets, blood type diets, transcendental meditation, creative visualization, biofeedback, hypnotism, reiki… 

Stones and crystals do not have magical powers, but they are tools that we can add to our arsenal of natural remedies without risking unwanted side-effects.  Many stones are inexpensive or free of charge to the adventurous rockhound.  Through websites like etsy, ebay and artfire, the average person can shop for handcrafted, affordable gemstone and crystal jewelry and purchase directly from the artist.  By cutting out the middleman, the savings are passed down to the consumer and the artist is still able to make a living, despite the current world economic crisis.

My favorite site dedicated to handmade items is www.etsy.com.  I recommend browsing through the subcategories on etsy.  You can type in keywords (like “smoky quartz” or “black tourmaline”) in the search field on top, and then narrow your search in the categories on the left.  You will be able to view items fitting your criteria made by a large pool of artists from all over the world.  You can even sort your results by price.  My own personal etsy store is http://www.etsy.com/shop/DoodlepunkArt
